Although we hope for blue skies, Dorset's spring weather can still be unpredictable, so it's essential to pack layers. Think…
Lightweight, breathable tops and shirts.
Jumpers or light jackets for cooler evenings.
Comfortable trousers or jeans.
Waterproof outerwear, such as a rain jacket or poncho.
Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots for exploring the countryside.
Sun hat and sunglasses for sunny days.
Now you’ve got your essentials covered, time to think about your outdoor gear…
A handy backpack for day trips.
Binoculars for bird watching along the coast or in nature reserves.
Walking poles for hikes along the Jurassic Coast.
Picnic blanket for enjoying alfresco lunches in scenic spots.
Swimsuit if you plan to take a dip in the sea or visit one of Dorset's beaches.
Are you planning some outdoor adventures whilst you’re here? If so, don’t forget:
Guidebooks or maps of Dorset's attractions and walking trails.
Camera or smartphone for capturing the stunning scenery and memorable moments along the way.
Reusable water bottle to stay hydrated on your adventures, there are many places around Weymouth and Portland where you will be able to fill your water bottle.
Snacks for energy boosts while exploring.
If you are a member of the National Trust, don’t forget to bring your passes with you - we have some beautiful National Trust locations in Dorset that you might like to visit whilst you are here.
If a day at the beach isn’t out of the question so don’t forget your beach essentials! Think:
Beach towels & maybe a blanket - just in case.
Sun cream.
A beach umbrella.
Some beach toys for the little ones to play with.
After a day of exploring, bring along some indoor entertainment…
Your favorite book.
A puzzle, maybe one that’s full of springtime colours.
A journal, this is a helpful one for me… I write down all the ‘busy’ thoughts that come up and deal with them when I return home.
The evenings do tend to drop in temperature so bring along your cosiest of clothes…
Bring your favorite jumpers, loungewear, pyjamas and not forgetting your trusty slippers
Techy bits, because let’s face it, we still need to stay attached to some sort of normality.
Your phone charger
Top tip, ensure you check your bedside before you leave when your holiday is over… this is the most common item that is left behind in our properties.
Any medical supplies you may need.
Pop together a little first aid kit of all the medical supplies you may need whilst you’re away… if you’re going to be doing lots of walking, make sure you pack some blister plasters!
Your reusable water bottle & coffee cup.
Grab your reusable water bottle & coffee cup, in Dorset there are often incentives when you bring along your own coffee cup & there are also many places you can refill your water bottle when out and about.
Are you travelling with your dog? If so, don’t forget…
Their bed, they need to be comfortable too.
Their food & favorite treats.
A towel, just in case you get caught in the great British weather.
