The Experience

You turn your key in the lock, and open the door. You’re met with soft greys and gentle whites, wicker and natural wood. You take a breath, smile at each other, and instantly feel just that little bit calmer. 

You drop your bags and follow your noses down the hallway into a clean, modern kitchen. Coffee and tea are waiting for you; there’s milk in the fridge. You put the kettle on, sit in the sundrenched courtyard together and listen to the seagulls call to each other from the rooftops. 

Your child explores the garden, ecstatic in this new space, running to you with every treasure they find. Your dog crunches biscuits at your feet, yawning and stretching out in the sun. 

As you make yourselves at home, you find thoughtful details everywhere you look. A gratitude journal on the bedside table; a blanket and a book beside an oh-so-comfy couch. Small invitations to stretch out and slow down. 

For the next few days, you take your time exploring Dorset from your perfectly-positioned, Scandi-chic launchpad. A morning in Durdle Door, an afternoon in Lulworth Cove. A short walk into Weymouth; ice cream, chips and the sound of the sea. 

In the evening you make a meal together in the kitchen, share a bottle, and sink gratefully into bed for a bone-deep sleep.


The Practicalities

Joanne’s Retreat is the perfect Weymouth stay for a small family of three- be that toddler or dog (or both). 

  • It’s in Preston (the ‘posh part’ of Weymouth), just a 15 minute walk from Weymouth Beach. You have designated parking right outside the front door. And as you’re at the very top of Preston, you’re in a great position to explore further out across Dorset during your stay. 

  • Your furry family members are most definitely welcome! The garden is enclosed and secure, so they’re safe and free to run around to their heart’s content. If you are bringing your dog with you, let me know and I’ll leave them a doggy bed and some welcome biscuits (I want them to feel at home too!)

  • The home is spacious and airy, with two bedrooms. One is a single room, ideal for one adult or two small children. The other is a stylishly cosy double at the rear of the property. If you need a travel cot, let me know in advance and I’ll make sure it’s all set up and waiting for you when you arrive. 

  • The garden has a table, chairs and a BBQ, which you’re more than welcome to use. I don’t supply charcoal for the BBQ as a matter of course, but a barbecue package is available if you’re interested.

  • You’ll find a welcome pack when you arrive with proper tea, coffee, fresh milk and bread so you can have a nice hot drink as you settle in after your journey. 

  • The kitchen is well-equipped (including a dishwasher), spacious, and an absolute dream to cook in! I supply basic herbs and spices, salt, pepper and olive oil, so you can get cooking straight away. 

  • The light and modern bathroom consists of a bath with an overhead shower, a toilet and sink, with a cabinet for you to store your toiletries during your stay. I also supply soft towels, and naturally mineral-rich toiletries by Sea Kelp.

  • All the we needed and wanted in a break, and more. The home was clean. Even with 3 adults, a 1 year old and a dog, there was so much space. The decor was lovely, and my only regret is not taking pictures of the decor and unique finishing touches for personal future inspiration. It felt like home from home. The location was great - close corner shops a few doors down as well as food places. It was so close to the beach too, only needing a short drive. The garden was neat and was well spent in the mornings while having breakfast. The home was cosy, and my dog was so settled there so easily. Thank you so much for the amazing stay. On our first evening, we were talking about the next occasion for us to stay.

  • Beautiful apartment, spotlessly clean and had everything you would need to make your stay comfortable and homely. Close to lots of beautiful beaches on Jurassic coast and plenty of amenities close by. Communication with host was super easy too. We brought our dog and she even got biscuits on arrival! Georgina thought of everything. I’d 100 percent recommend.

  • This property is terrific for a young couple or family as it is located just outside of the hustle of Weymouth but is right off of a main thoroughfare allowing for fast access to the beach, downtown, amenities etc. it’s backyard is calm and beautiful and the house itself is modern, clean as a whistle, and has everything you might need. Georgina as a host is a consummate professional, excellent communicator, and considerate. Her personal touches and the family connection to this property make it a memorable, calm, and joyous place to stay. Spacious parking, within easy walking distance of a grocer and a couple of fish n chips places; just a quick ride to monkey world, the beach (about a twenty-thirty min walk), and downtown. Much better than the riotousness of the esplanade! We had a great time! Thank you Georgina!
